Strangely, I don’t care about any of Justice League Dark‘s significant problems. It’s got Janin on the art still and he’s still fantastic, so it can pretty much be about anything. And Milligan isn’t going to write anything offensive. It might get bad, but it won’t offend on any level other than wasting time.

But there’s Janin’s art, so Dark can’t be a waste of time.

Now, it is interesting what a big part Deadman plays here. He’s got this book, DC Universe and Hawk & Dove. I’d hate to think DC is overexposing him just because there’s a TV show in the works.

Sadly, Milligan writes Deadman like he’s a Seth Rogen character. He always begging Dove for sex… and considering she’s not even on the team, it’s strange she gets more page time than the erstwhile principals.

Still, Dove by Janin is awesome.

Dark‘s both bad and wonderful.

Someone’s in love ….yeah, I have NO idea what Milligan is trying to accomplish here, but the entire proceedings go down like ice cream. Almost half an issue for the Deadman/Dove scenes shouldn’t work in this context, but they seem to generally just take over and damned be the plot. Hey, I’m sure the cross sexual amore grooves are probably more interesting than the main story itself. The plot, such as it is, is dribbled in dibs and dabs when the love scenes need a break. It’s weird how Constantine needs to work in sadomasochistic trends to get his spell to work; and the scene with the Enchantress and Madame Zanadu is so cryptic I’m not sure who’s the good or bad guy here. But it doesn’t matter; Milligan and Janin have swept you away in their sweet, comic book goodness of made for tv scenarios. Good Junk food, bad for comic intellectuals. As if they were reading this anyway…
