Interesting. Aaron’s put off telling Dash his mother’s dead for about seven issues now and what kind of payoff does the reader get from the scene?
Minimal. Tonal even.
Guera is back on art and this issue goes for the cinematic. Red Crow is the devastated one, his scenes often silent and pensive. The visual pacing is fantastic.
Aaron juxtaposes Red Crow’s deliberations with Dash’s discovery of a murdered woman. He might have laid the groundwork for this second murder in the previous arc, but I don’t think Aaron really wants his readers to get out the white boards and dry erase markers to figure it out.
I hope not, anyway.
Even though Aaron’s established a very dangerous, unhappy place, the coincidence seems a little contrived… especially since he and Guera never established the apartment complexes before needing them.
It’s an excellent comic, but Aaron fumbles the ball a bit.
